Sampah di Lingkungan Rumah...

Haloo... :)
Kali ini aku mau bahas tentang sampah lagi nih, tapi yang ada di sekitar lingkungan rumahku, di Bantul :)
Sampah ? Apa itu sampah ?
Menurutku sih sampah itu limbah, kotoran sisa, sisa buangan, pokoknya sesuatu yang sudah tidak berguna atau tidak dibutuhkan lagi.

1. Pengertian Sampah

   Sampah adalah suatu bahan yang terbuang atau dibuang dari sumber aktivitas manusia maupun proses alam yang belum memiliki nilai ekonomis.

2. Jenis Sampah

    Berdasarkan asalnya, sampah padat dapat digolongkan sebagai Sampah Organik dan Sampah Anorganik

• Sampah Organik

           Merupakan jenis sampah yang terdiri dari bahan-bahan penyusun tumbuhan dan hewan yang diambil dari alam atau dihasilkan dari kegiatan pertanian, perikanan atau yang lainnya. Sampah ini dengan mudah diuraikan dalam proses alami.

• Sampah Anorganik

          Merupakan jenis sampah yang berasal dari sumber daya alam tak terbarui seperti mineral dan minyak bumi atau dihasilkan dari proses industri. Beberapa bahan seperti ini tidak terdapat di alam, yaitu plastik dan aluminium. Sebagian zat anorganik secara keseluruhan tidak dapat diuraikan oleh alam, sedang sebagian yang lain hanya diuraikan secara lambat. Sampah jenis ini pada tingkat rumah tangga berupa botol, botol plastik, tas plastik, kaleng dan lain-lain. Kertas, koran dan karton merupakan perkecualian. Berdasarkan asalnya, kertas, koran dan karton termasuk sampah organik. Tetapi karena kertas, koran dan karton dapat di daur ulang seperti sampah anorganik lain (misalnya gelas, kaleng dan plastik) sehingga dapat digolongkan sampah anorganik.

         Berdasarkan Data Statistik Lingkungan Hidup Tahun 1992 Rata-rata komposisi sampah di beberapa kota besar di Indonesia adalah : Organik (25%), Kertas (10%), Plastik (18%), Kayu (12%), Logam (11%), Kain (11%), Gelas (11%), Lain-lain (12%).

3. Sumber Sampah

a. Sampah Pemukiman, Perdagangan dan Perkantoran yang disebabkan oleh :

1) Penduduk yang tinggal di sepanjang sungai dan pemukiman padat langsung membuang sampah ke sungai dan saluran pembuangan.

2) Limpasan air hujan yang membawa sampah dari pasar-pasar maupun pusat-pusat kegiatan dan pemukiman

3) Sampah perkantoran terdiri dari kertas, alat tulis menulis, toner foto caopy, baterai dll.

b. Sampah Pertanian dan Perkebunan

Sampah dari kegiatan pertanian tergolong bahan organik, seperto jerami dan sejenisnya. Sebagian besar sampah yang dihasilkan selama musim panen dibakar atau dimanfaatkan untuk pupuk.

c. Sampah Bangunan dan Gedung

Sampah yang berasal dari kegiatan pembangunan dan pemugaran gedung dapat berupa organik maupun anorganik. Sampah organik : kayu, bambu, triplek dll. Sampah Anorganik : semen, ubin, besi, baja, kaleng, kaca dll.

4. Dampak sampah terhadap Manusia dan lingkungan

• Terhadap Kesehatan

Pengelolaan sampah yang tidak memadai (pembuangan sampah sembarangan dan tidak terkontrol) dapat menimbulkan berbagai penyakit sebagai berikut :

· Diare, kolera, tipus dan demam berdarah dapat menyebar dengan cepat karena sampah memasuki air minum

· Cacing pita yang dapat menyebar melalui rantai makanan, dimana cacing dikonsumsi sebelumnya oleh ternak melalui makanannya yang berupa sisa makanan / sampah.

· Minamata (di Jepang) disebabkan karena masyarakat mengkonsumsi ikan yang terkontaminasi sampah beracun (limbah baterai dan akumulator yang dibuang di perairan umum).

• Terhadap Lingkungan

          Cairan yang dilepaskan sampah ke saluran drainase dan air tanah sehingga mencemari sumber air tersebut. Penguraian sampah yang dibuang ke dalam air akan menghasilkan asam organik dan gas-cair organik seperti metana (dapat menimbulkan bau dan gasnya dapat menimbulkan ledakan bila konsentrasinya cukup besar).

5. Cara Menangani Sampah

    Cara menangani sampah yaitu dengan konsep zero waste. Konsep zero waste yaitu penerapan prinsip 3R (Reduce, Reuse, dan Recycle), serta prinsip pengolahan sedekat mungkin dengan sumber sampah dengan maksud untuk mengurangi beban pengangkutan (transport cost). Orientasi penanganan sampah dengan konsep zero waste diantaranya meliputi :

          1. Sistem pengolahan sampah secara terpadu

          2. Teknologi pengomposan

          3. Daur ulang sampah plastik dan kertas

          4. Teknologi pembakaran sampah dan insenator

          5. Teknologi pengolahan sampah organik menjadi pakan ternak

          6. Teknologi tempat pembuangan akhir (TPA) sampah

          7. Peran serta masyarakat dalam penanganan sampah

          8. Pengolahan sampah kota metropolitan

          9. Peluang dan tantangan usaha daur ulang

    Jika kita membuang sampah sembarangan, efek secara keseluruhan memang tidak terasa tetapi lama kelamaan dapat berbahaya bagi lingkungan kita. Seperti halnya kita membuang sampah kesungai/selokan, jika sampah tersebut sudah banyak maka ketika air hujan turun pasti daerah tersebut akan terkena banjir karena aliran air tersumbat oleh sampah. Membuang sampah sembarangan ke jalan atau sebagainya, itu akan kelihatan tidak indah dipandang dan akan menimbulkan berbagai macam penyakit.
